A Question: "what does love mean?"

A group of 4-8 year olds were asked to describe what love meant. The answers are nothing short of incredible, adorable and educational.

Love is a term that is thrown about in a very hap-dash way in the 21st century. There is a number of different types and sides to love and some of the kids show an astonishing amount of insight into such a complex term.

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."  That's an incredible insight into unrequited love, and that's from a four year old child. It's such a simple thing, but an amazing answer to the question.

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."  And  "When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."  (Billy)

The two above are in my view, the most touching of quotes, just an amazing insight into how children just watch and observe the basics of human emotion and interpret it in such a simple and honest way.

I found Billy's quote is heart wrenching, and amazingly true.

I think some people who read this will perhaps call ignorance on my part. That love isn't as simple as being put forward in the above piece. However, I think it could be - and if we all thought within the realms of a four year old for a few things, our lives might work a little easier.
